Together with Equal Help Ghana and local health services, we conducted a community outreach program that combine malaria testing, blood typing, and Rh disease education. The outreach took place on November 6th 2025. We had anticipated 100 people but had enthusiasm from 176 people as well as many young school girls.
Recognising that many women in these communities have limited literacy, we used accessible and engaging tools: participants received a simple flyer developed with WIRhE Partners, explaining Rh disease and actionable next steps. These outreach efforts are designed to ensure that critical health information is understandable, memorable, and immediately applicable, empowering women to take proactive steps in safeguarding their health and the health of their families.
Additionally, the local health director came and gave a small workshop on what Rhesus disease is and also a specific menstrual health and hygiene training for the school girls. They were also given washable menstrual pads, which in this rural community, can really make an impact.
